Traditional Mud Wrestling

Kusti (Pehlwani) is an ancient form of wrestling practiced in a clay or dirt pit (the Akhada). It is not merely a sport, but a highly disciplined way of life. At Shree Bhavani Akhada, we train our wrestlers in the pure, traditional techniques, emphasizing mutual respect, rigorous physical conditioning, and deep spiritual strength.

Training in the red mud of the Akhada connects the athlete to the earth. The clay is often mixed with ghee, milk, and turmeric, providing healing properties. Here, students build raw, functional power and incredible agility that no gym machine can replicate.

Our Kusti program is meticulously designed to cater to both absolute beginners and seasoned athletes. Beyond physical prowess, Pehlwani instills core values of humility, brotherhood, and perseverance. Every session begins and ends with profound reverence for the Guru and the sacred soil. The training heavily involves unique exercises like 'Danda' (Indian push-ups) and 'Baithak' (Indian squats), which cultivate unmatched endurance and cardiovascular fitness. Furthermore, practitioners learn to understand their bodies at a deeper level, adhering to a specialized lifestyle that harmonizes diet, rest, and intense physical exertion.

Suitable for age groups starting from 6 years onwards, our traditional mud wrestling program actively shapes the character of young minds, teaching them discipline early on. For young adults and adults, it serves as a robust method for stress relief, confidence building, and achieving peak physical health. Engaging in this time-honored tradition ensures that you carry the legacy of ancient Indian warriors, equipped with the strength to overcome any modern-day challenge.
